Bea is a daily reflection app built by Davis Kim. Your privacy is not a checkbox — it is the foundation of what Bea does. You share personal thoughts every evening. This policy explains exactly what happens to them.

1. What We Collect

Bea collects only what is necessary to function:

• Your name — entered during onboarding, stored locally on your device.
• Your journal entries — the questions Bea asks and your answers. Stored locally on your device via SwiftData.
• Your notification preferences — the time you want Bea to notify you. Stored locally.
• Your subscription status — managed by Apple via StoreKit. We do not handle payment information directly.

We do not collect your email address, phone number, location, or any device identifiers.

2. How Your Data Is Used

Your journal entries are used for one purpose: to generate your monthly letter and yearly recap. When you request these features, your entries are sent to Anthropic's API to generate personalized AI responses. This data is transmitted securely and is not stored by Anthropic beyond the duration of the API request.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond delivering the features you asked for.

3. Where Your Data Lives

All of your journal entries, name, and preferences are stored locally on your device. They are not uploaded to any server or database. If you delete the app, your data is deleted with it.

When you use the monthly letter or yearly recap features, your entries are temporarily transmitted to our Cloudflare Worker proxy and then to Anthropic's API. Neither service retains this data after the request is complete.

4. Third-Party Services

Bea uses the following third-party services:

• Anthropic API — generates your monthly letters and yearly recap. Your entries are sent to Anthropic's servers only when you request these features. Anthropic's privacy policy is available at anthropic.com/privacy.
• Cloudflare Workers — a proxy server that sits between the app and Anthropic. It processes your request and forwards it. No data is logged or stored. Cloudflare's privacy policy is available at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
• Apple StoreKit — handles all subscription payments. We never see your payment information. Apple's privacy policy is available at apple.com/privacy.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers. We do not share your data with anyone except the third-party services listed above, and only for the purpose of delivering the features you requested.

6. Children's Privacy

Bea is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. Your Rights

Because your data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it at all times. You can:

• Delete all your data by deleting the app.
• Export your data using the export feature (Pro users).
• Contact us to request confirmation that no data about you exists on our servers.

8. Security

Your journal entries never leave your device except when you explicitly use the AI features. When they are transmitted, they travel over HTTPS encrypted connections. Our Cloudflare Worker validates requests using a secret token before forwarding anything to Anthropic.

9. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top and notify you within the app. Continued use of Bea after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
