Terms of Service

Last updated: May 2026

These Terms of Service govern your use of Bea, an iOS application developed by Davis Kim. By downloading or using Bea, you agree to these terms. Please read them.

1. The App

Bea is a daily reflection app. It asks you one question every evening and uses your answers to generate personalized insights over time. Bea is designed for personal use only and is intended for users 13 years of age and older.

2. Your Account

Bea does not require an account to use. Your data is stored locally on your device. You are responsible for maintaining access to your device. If you lose your device or delete the app, your data cannot be recovered — there is no cloud backup at this time.

3. Subscription and Payment

Bea offers a paid subscription with a 7-day free trial. Subscription options are:

Subscriptions are managed by Apple through the App Store. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID account settings.

The 7-day free trial is available to new subscribers only. Apple limits one free trial per subscription group per Apple ID.

We do not offer refunds beyond what Apple's standard refund policy provides. Refund requests must be submitted to Apple directly.

4. Your Content

Your journal entries belong to you. We do not claim any ownership over what you write. You grant us a limited license to process your entries through our AI features (monthly letters and yearly recap) solely for the purpose of delivering those features to you.

You are responsible for the content you write. Do not use Bea to store illegal content or content that violates the rights of others.

5. AI-Generated Content

Bea uses Anthropic's Claude AI to generate monthly letters and yearly recaps. These are generated based on your journal entries and are intended to be thoughtful and personal. However:

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact a qualified professional or crisis service immediately.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

7. Availability

We aim to keep Bea available and functional at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may update, modify, or temporarily suspend the app at any time. AI features depend on third-party services (Anthropic, Cloudflare) and may be temporarily unavailable if those services experience outages.

8. Termination

You may stop using Bea at any time by deleting the app and cancelling your subscription through Apple. We reserve the right to terminate access for users who violate these terms.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

Bea is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that Bea will be error-free, uninterrupted, or meet your specific requirements. Use Bea at your own risk.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Davis Kim shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of Bea, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or emotional distress. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for your subscription in the 12 months preceding the claim.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and notify you within the app. Continued use of Bea after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
